Baltimore Restaurant Week Starts Today

Baltimore Winter Restaurant "Week" is scheduled for two weeks, starting today and lasting until February 7th. Because of the puppy business, we haven't really contemplated our choices too hard yet, although we are planning to visit Fogo de Chao. Where are you going this time around? Where should we go?

Alizee Bistro and Wine Bar is the one place I'm considering. My former neighbor Dave Edwards (formerly of Dogwood before they dumped all their old staff) is there now and I'd like to support him.

I haven't yet been to Alizee, and while the RW appetizers sound good, the entrees aren't thrilling me. Have you been there before?

Nope, but the appetizers do sound good and I have to say with French food I tend to like simpler dishes.
I'm mostly boycotting "Restaurant Week" because I think the increase in price is total BS but I will probably make this one exception.

Did you see this? Apparently not all restaurants are complying with the $35 New York-style price.

No, I boycott that site after the massive slams I (and other people) have been given + finding out some other things about the way that blog is run. I read blogs where the writer is the mind behind the blog and controls the content.

Good to know some are being sensible, though.

Oh, a kindred spirit! I'm not fond of the fact that there seems to be a bit of commenter favoritism and that the blog author isn't writing all of the content. BUT...it's one place I can get fairly accurate news on the restaurant scene, commenters aside.

Are you reading "City That Eats" yet? Totally different kind of site but promises to be great info & good fun.b

That site's about Chicago, no?

I had such a good meal at Salt last summer that I'm anxious to go back.

And I'm glad to be reminded of Alizee Bistro. I was told that most of the best talent at Dogwood ended up there.
